Solids processing is an important step in wastewater treatment. Anaerobic & Aerobic Digestion directly impacts the overall quality of the final biosolids product. In this two-day “Anaerobic and Aerobic Digestion & Biosolids Treatment” workshop we will explain:

  • the purpose of sludge digestion
  • the principals of anaerobic and aerobic digestion including the microbiological and chemical processes
  • the hazards and dangers associated with anaerobic digestion
  • the pros and cons of anaerobic and aerobic digestion
  • how to utilize digester operations
  • the different technologies applied in mixing, pumping, and heating anaerobic digesters
  • how to troubleshoot the digestions process
  • what to do when your “digester is upset” and how to prevent this from happening in the future
  • various methods of dewatering sludge
  • national, state and local regulatory framework for Class A and Class B biosolids and disposal
  • commonly used treatment processes to obtain class A, B, or Exceptional biosolids
  • pros & cons of available treatment technology
  • how to recognize problems and effectively troubleshoot process deficiencies

 

Throughout this “Anaerobic and Aerobic Digestion & Biosolids Treatment” workshop we will discuss real life scenarios to demonstrate how to apply the available information. To help you better understand and become comfortable with how to apply the material covered in this class we will work through a variety of exercises reflecting problems and situations you may encounter while working in municipal, governmental, private, or public operations.

 

This class provides you with important knowledge of the sludge digestion and biosolids treatment processes necessary for successful solids processing in wastewater treatment operations. The information presented in this class is also essential in the preparation for your wastewater operator exam.
