Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment: An Overview of Wastewater Treatment
This workshop is part of our unparalleled and unequaled series of exam preparation classes. These one day workshops are designed to provide you with the fundamental understanding of the processes applied in wastewater treatment operations. Each of the classes is a stand alone class. Workshop participants are not required to meet prerequisites for any of the classes. To gain the greatest benefits of these classes, however, we encourage participants to self evaluate their knowledge and understanding of wastewater treatment before signing up for any of these classes.
The following workshops will be offered in the “Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment” series:
- Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – An Overview of Wastewater Treatment
- Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – Collection Systems
- Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – Headworks & Primary Treatment
- Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – Secondary Treatment
- Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – Tertiary Treatment
- Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – Disinfection
- Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – Solids Management
- Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – Sequencing Batch Reactors Operations
- Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – Oxidation Ditch Operations
- Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – Membrane Bioreactor Operations
This “Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – An Overview of Wastewater Treatment” workshop will explain the basic principles applied in wastewater treatment. You will learn about the path wastewater will follow from where it is generated to where the treated water is discharged.
We will discuss the components of a wastewater system and explain their functions starting with the collection system and headworks, moving to primary and secondary treatment followed by disinfection and ending with the disposal of treated water. Furthermore, you will learn about solids management and biosolids disposal.
Throughout the workshop you will become familiar with the terminology, treatment conditions, and challenges commonly found in the wastewater industry.
Additionally, you will get introduced to the equipment used in wastewater treatment, such as screens, mixers, aerators, chlorinators, UV disinfection, screw presses, belt presses, dryers, SCADA, and more.
Since it is impossible to operate a wastewater treatment facility without proper permitting we will also briefly discuss what regulations apply to wastewater treatment operations including laboratory and field monitoring requirements.
This “Fundamentals of Wastewater Treatment – An Overview of Wastewater Treatment” workshop will provide you with an essential understanding of the principles and processes applied in wastewater treatment. This class is also accepted as training towards obtaining or maintaining your wastewater operator certification.
