Lorisa Watkins

Lorisa Watkins has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Planning with a focus on environmental policy, regulations, and impact assessments as well as a Wastewater Operator, Group II, Certificate from the WA Department of Ecology.

Mrs. Watkins has over 15 years of experience in the laboratory environment; during 12 of those years she worked for wastewater treatment operations. In 1999 she started her laboratory career as a Laboratory Technician with the WA Department of Ecology Laboratory in Manchester, where she processed and analyzed a wide variety of samples for general chemistry and microbiology parameters. From 2004 to 2016 Lorisa worked for the Central Kitsap WWTP laboratory and West Sound Utilities (WSU). During this time she was responsible for sample collection, laboratory and field analyses, quality assurance, instrument operation and maintenance. She also managed WSU’s water quality monitoring for wastewater and reuse water, lab accreditation, quality assurance, and waste management programs.

Lorisa is the recipient of several rewards and acknowledgements, including the:

  • Crystal Crucible Award from the Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association for contributing to the wastewater analyst profession (2011)
  • Water Environment Federation Acknowledgement for outstanding performance as a Laboratory Analyst (2009)
  • Star Award from South Kitsap School District for partnering with the Career & Technical Education program (2016)
